Gary Strannigan

Vice president congressional / legislative affairs

Gary Strannigan is Vice President of Congressional and Legislative Affairs at Premera Blue Cross. In this capacity, he leads public policy as well as state and federal legislative affairs for all Premera markets.   

Prior to joining Premera, Strannigan spent 16 years at Liberty Mutual/Safeco Insurance where he led the state legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts in nine western states along with serving as their national lead on autonomous vehicles. Prior to Liberty Mutual he was an aircraft accident investigator and is a former Washington State Senator.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and is an engineer and patent-holding inventor.
