About our Speaker:
Katie Scheelar, Pharm.D. graduated from the Oregon State College of Pharmacy in 2010, training in the combined doctorial programs of Oregon State University and Oregon Health and Sciences University. Prior to her career in pharmacy, Dr. Scheelar graduated from the University of Oregon, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in finance and minor in economics. After working as a financial accountant for several years, she decided to pursue a doctorate in pharmacy, becoming the fourth generation of pharmacists in her family.
Dr. Scheelar has served as a clinician with Moda Health since 2010, blending her business background with her Doctor of Pharmacy training. In this capacity, she actively contributes to population-based formulary and utilization management, drug therapy management, the development of novel pharmacy benefit design initiatives, and client management. Today, Dr. Scheelar supports the pharmacy team as the Senior Clinical Program Manager where she integrates evidence-based clinical practice with initiatives and programs for groups, stiving to better the health of each member.
Dr. Scheelar currently serves various clients throughout Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, including commercial groups, public entities, workers’ compensation, Medicare, Medicaid as a Coordinated Care Organization, and hospital systems. She has supported the Washington and Oregon Public Employees Benefits Board meetings, as well as the Oregon Educators Benefit Board meetings in a consulting capacity to the Washington State Health Care Authority and Oregon Health Authority, respectively.
